Fresh tempeh is much better than the usually pasteurised tempeh you can buy in the supermarket. It smells like a mix of mushrooms and apples, it has a soft texture and a taste of yeast, mushrooms and nuts.
Traditionally, tempeh is made from soybeans, but it can be made from any local legume such as lentils, chickpeas, black beans or peanuts. You can find the steps to follow here.
With 25 grams of this tempeh starter, you can make up to 10 kg of tempeh, i. e. 100 round tempehs of 100 g, using our tempeh moulds.
